Self-love is loving yourself unconditionally. But when do you love yourself? You do so when you don’t judge yourself. You accept yourself as you are.
“Love is the absence of judgment.”
Nature of self-love
When you don’t judge yourself, you accept yourself as you are. So, on a broader level, you love yourself. It’s not a selfish act. It’s a great virtue. The wise men say once you can not love yourself, you can not love others. Let me explain it here.
With Self-love, you change from your limited version to your unlimited version. Why so? Self-love means you love and accept yourself as you are. You don’t judge or criticize yourself.
Judging and criticizing yourself brings negative emotions within you. You become stressed and sick. So you become your limited version.
What happens when you love yourself
On the other hand, when you respect, love, and accept yourself, your energy level goes up. Once your energy level goes up, you take care of your physical, mental, and spiritual health. So you become strong enough to love your family members. In that case, you can not only take care of your wellbeing but also can take care of the welfare of the members of your family and society. How will you feel then? You feel positive emotions all the time. So you become your unlimited version.
Those days one of my relatives used to practice self-love. Her days started with an exercise in the morning. Then she went to worship God. In short, she used to maintain discipline everywhere throughout the day. She was very much particular about the timing of taking breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She used to take only healthy foods. Cleanliness was her way of life. Despite her busy and tight schedule, she took care of the needs of each family member. Everyone liked her.
So love yourself.
I must close here with this beautiful quote.
“Self-love is an ocean, and your heart is a vessel. Make it full, and any excess will spill over into the lives of the people you hold dear. But you must come first.”
– Beau Taplin.
