Harsh words- Never use them to communicate.

Harsh words. Never use them to communicate. Why? The story will explain it.

Never use harsh words- The story

Now I am going to tell a story about two executives of a particular department of SAIL-Isp, Burnpur. It dated back to the year 1990. Two executives included the head of the department and one junior officer. Both of them used to take cigarette together before entering the shop floor. But the junior officer used to come late daily. The head of the department will wait for him at the entrance; the junior officer will offer him a cigarette, and then both of them will take cigarette together. Then they will go to the shop floor. Both of them followed this routine.

The Head of the Department did not react at all at the late coming of the junior. But one day, he slightly changed his interaction. How? He said, ” You know I take cigarette only from you, and then I go to the shop floor. If I don’t do it, I can not focus on my jobs. But You came late; so I could not take the cigarette in time. In other words, you delayed the start of the jobs.”

After that, the junior executive used to come on time.

Learning points:

Communication is a two-way process.

Do it in the language and style the receiver understands well.

Never use harsh words to communicate. Why? It may defeat your purpose.

“Whatever words we utter should be chosen with care for people will hear them and be influenced by them for good or ill.”

Buddha.
